A call out for interested regional programs:

Prototyping a Model of Significant Financial Assistance for Young People and Households with Children in Regional South Australia

Wyatt is looking to provide flexible, high-trust financial assistance to young people and households with children in regional South Australia who are navigating transition, financial hardship, housing risk, and complexity.

The intention is to support young people to strengthen their long-term housing and financial stability, independence and opportunity rather than relieve immediate financial pressure.

In the first year Wyatt will partner with a handful of regional partners, through which approximately 30 young people across South Australia will each receive a grant of $10,000. Young people will draw down on the grant and receive support along the way.

We are seeking expressions of interest from regional programs excited about the opportunity as described; to work alongside Wyatt, people with lived experience of financial hardship, and other regional partners to prototype a model that combines financial assistance and stable housing, trusted relationships, and long-term aspirations.

We are on the lookout for regional South Australian programs that have strong relationships with young people and families in regional communities, who work with people experiencing complexity, financial hardship or transition and who can envision how grants of this kind might support the long-term wellbeing and financial stability of young people they work with.

Want to learn more? Express your interest before Wednesday August 12 through SmartyGrants and tell us about your program and the work you do:

  • How young people shape services, programs and systems within your organisation
  • The type of support your program provides and the principles and values that guide your work
  • What interests you about this opportunity and any questions
  • An approximate number of participants that your program could realistically connect to the program and support through the process.

Please note that selected partnering programs will receive $10,000 of brokerage funds for each participant plus a contribution to the support and to relational grant making, and administration costs. (Final administration and funding arrangements to be discussed]

    What happens next?

Thank you for your time and information in this response – we greatly appreciate it.

Importantly, we do not have all the answers yet. We are seeking programs who are willing to test, learn and adapt alongside Wyatt and people with lived experience.

We are currently engaging with young people. This will inform next steps and shortlisting.

All programs that express interest will be contacted by mid-September. Shortlisted programs will then be invited to participate in exploratory discussions to determine fit and readiness for the pilot.

Completing the EOI indicates to Wyatt your interest in exploring if a partnership of this kind might fit for your program and the young people you serve, but it is not a commitment. A short application process will follow for organisations following the initial conversations.

Please contact Jo Edwards, (08) 8224 0074 or jedwards@wyatt.org.au if you have any questions about this EOI or this intended future work.
